Do not allow World Of Warcraft to rule your life, simply close the account (quit) and allow it to become a frozen account where all of your progress is saved and your characters protected. Do not sell the account as it is illegal as written in World Of Warcrafts Terms of Use.
If you feel the need to reactivate it do not feel poorly as it often occurs. That is why it is best to hold on to the frozen account info.
If you decide that you would like to quit forver then simply do not reactivate the account. This way you will not have to painfully destroy that which you have created and if you happen to have a large amount of spare time on your hands then you are capable of returning to your account.
